Private Wadi Bani Khalid City Highlights Tour & Desert Safari
On this private tour of the Sharqiya region, you will experience the very best of Oman, from the quaint town of Fanja to the most beautiful wadis of Oman located in the Wadi Bani Khalid. Your excursion includes time to swim in a fresh water pool, bask in the warming sun after your dip, enjoy a delicious picnic lunch (at an additional cost), and visit hidden caves. You will even get to explore the Wahiba Sands Desert, where you will have a four wheel drive adventure through the stretches of glistening sand dunes.
Your day long nature tour will depart early in the morning from the Muscat Port gate. You will have the opportunity to snap pictures galore at your first stop at the Nakhl oasis and next in the quaint village of Fanja, where you will see the charming castle fort before heading to the warm springs of Thowarah. After taking time for the perfect photo, you will move on to the most breathtaking views of Oman, by way of lush plantations covered with palm trees and small mountain villages.
Once you have made your off road journey to one of the country's most amazing and beautiful wadis, Wadi Bani Khalid, you will see crystal clear water pools and unique rock paintings. Your time at Wadi Sahtan will allow for a dip in the water pools and even time for relaxing in the glorious sunshine. The wadi is massive and full of hidden caves. This part of your journey is exciting and serene at the same time. You will feel refreshed and at peace when your time at the wadi is complete. Enjoy a picnic lunch (cost not included in the tour price) to fuel your body before traveling onto your next adventure.
Later in the afternoon, you'll encounter the Wahiba Sands Desert, with its stretches and stretches of colorful sand ranging from orange to hues of amber. Your time in the desert includes a 4x4 adventure so you can really absorb the grandeur of this massive area. Where the sands meet the ocean, rock that has been compressed from sand has formed into abstract and unique shapes. Be sure to bring your camera to capture images of this magnificent landscape. From there you will head back to Muscat.
Please be advised: Normal tourst photography is acceptable, but it is considered offensive to photograph Arab women. It is also courteous to ask permission before photographing men. Photographs of government buildings, police, or military installations are not allowed.

Special Instructions
Comfortable lightweight summer clothing and walking shoes are suitable for most of the year, but sweaters or jackets may be needed for the winter months, especially in the evenings. Good quality sunglasses are advised, and photo-chromatic lenses for those who wear spectacles. Hats and some protection for the head are advisable when in direct sunlight. The Sultanate of Oman has conservative dress traditions. Swimwear must be confined to the beach and hotel pools. Men and women should ensure shoulders and knees are covered when in public, especially in souks, shops/malls and villages.

Must be able to get in/out of vehicle. Normal tourist photography is acceptable, but it is considered offensive to photograph Arab women. In that role, Mr. Miller was responsible for contributing to Abercrombie & Kent's international growth through the development and acquisition of tour products and travel experiences around the world with a specific focus on cruising and land based experiences. Prior to joining Abercrombie & Kent, Mr. Miller held a variety of executive positions with Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises for more than a decade. These positions included Vice President of Guest Sales & Service, Vice President of Brand Development, and Vice President of Onboard Revenue (which included shore excursions). Mr. Miller also led Celebrity Expeditions, a collection of outstanding and unique tours around the World.
Michael Bonner
Mr. Bonner has over a decade of experience working in the cruise industry in a variety of roles for both Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Viking River Cruises. Most recently, Mr. Bonner was the Chief Operating Officer for The Scholar Ship, a Royal Caribbean program aimed at providing college students onboard educational programs in conjunction with enriching shore excursions around the world. Mr. Bonner also helped co-manage Viking River Cruises U.S. Operations, and he ran the corporate, strategic, and deployment planning functions at Royal Caribbean.
